Pre-Treatment! Does it REALLY matter in your Lash & Brow Services?

Every artist knows that the canvas is as important (if not the most important) as any other tool. And just like a painter needs a blank sheet, so do brow and lash techs. If your client's brow or lash area is compromised with makeup, oil, dust, or anything other than squeaky clean skin, you (and they) may not get the results or retention you want.

Luckily, Inlei® has got our back. They want their treatments to be consistent and reliable, so they always make sure we have what we need for success. Let's break down their three pretreatment options to help maximize your artistry.

Soft Peeling

Made for the eyebrow area (do not use for lashes!), Soft Peeling is a mild exfoliant meant to remove any makeup, oil, and dead skin.  It's super gentle, so it gets the brows ready without damaging or going too deep into the layers of the skin. Like everything Inlei® does, each ingredient is carefully thought out and made to be non-irritating.

Use it before dyeing with tint, before Brow Bomber, and just as regular skincare maintenance.  It's especially great for dry skin, and not recommended for super oily skin (use a foam wash instead).

Mousse

InLei® Mousse are innovative products that remove make-up and cleanse the skin with incredible delicacy. They were created specifically designed for the face and eyes. They eliminate impurities and excess sebum not only from the skin but also from the space among lashes. The Oil-Free formulation makes them perfect to extend the lifespan of Eyelash Extensions, Lash Filler/Lash Lifts, Brow Bomber/Lamination treatments. They are perfect for daily home use and especially perfect for the pre-treatment of services. The super soft foam easily wipes off make-up and impurities without drying or dehydrating the skin.

The pH level of all our mousses varies between 5 and 6: it is just below neutral values. The formulation has been designed to comply with the optimal natural pH of the face and body, which is between 4.7 and 5.75.

The Aloe is a lightweight and gentle foam that eliminates impurities and deeply purifies the skin with a sweetly scented caress. Perfect to eliminate excess sebum on oily skin.

The Rose is suitable for every skin type. It has a preventive anti-aging action if used by young people and effectively counteracts small wrinkles if used on mature skin.

This Avena is soft and enveloping, it leaves a pleasant velvety sensation on the skin that lasts for hours.

Feel free to use any of these more than once if the area is particularly stubborn. As a hint, if the wash loses bubbles quickly, that's a good sign that it needs to be repeated. For waterproof mascara/makeup, you may need something a bit stronger to completely remove.

Saline Solution

Inlei®'s all-purpose, good-for-everything cleanser. This gentle saline mix degreases both lashes and brows to enhance the effect of all treatments. Use before Lash Filler, Brow Bomber, brow/lash tints, lash extensions, and more.  And while Soft Peeling isn't great for oily skin, the Saline Solution is! In fact, it can help keep oil at bay while you do the treatment, giving you more time to work and get the results your client wants.

Prepare Your Surface

No matter what, don't ever skip pretreatment. It may seem like an easy thing to ditch, especially if you're running short on time, but a dirty or oily surface is the best way to get poor results. With your client's happiness and your reputation on the line, it's just not a risk worth taking.

In addition to right before the treatment, it may also make sense to counsel your client to prepare early. For example, if your client has chronically dry skin, using Soft Peeling daily for 4-5 before their brow treatment can really help Brow Bomber be successful. Or, if your client has really oily skin, recommending a clay treatment a day or two before their appointment helps keep the oil at bay. Proactive steps make all the difference.
